Peer Review Process

HUMANEA: Journal of Health and Wellbeing Research applies a rigorous, transparent, and fair peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, relevance, and scientific integrity of all published articles. The journal is published four times a year, in February, May, August, and November.

1. Submission and Initial Screening

All manuscripts submitted to HUMANEA are first evaluated by the Editorial Office to ensure compliance with the journal’s scope, author guidelines, formatting requirements, and ethical standards.

At this stage, manuscripts are screened for:

  1. Relevance to health and wellbeing research
  2. Completeness of manuscript components
  3. Compliance with ethical requirements
  4. Similarity and plagiarism using plagiarism detection software

Manuscripts that do not meet these basic requirements may be rejected or returned to authors for technical revision before entering the review stage.

2. Peer Review Process

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are evaluated through a peer review process involving three independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field.

The identities of reviewers are kept confidential. Reviewers are selected based on their academic expertise, research experience, and absence of conflicts of interest. Each reviewer independently assesses the manuscript and provides constructive feedback.

3. Review Criteria

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:

  1. Originality and contribution to health and wellbeing research
  2. Methodological rigor and appropriateness
  3. Clarity and coherence of presentation
  4. Validity and reliability of results
  5. Depth of analysis and discussion
  6. Ethical considerations

Reviewers are encouraged to provide clear recommendations and suggestions to improve the quality of the manuscript.

4. Editorial Decision

Based on the recommendations of the three reviewers, the Editor makes one of the following editorial decisions:

a. Accept Submission

The manuscript is accepted for publication without the need for further revisions.

b. Revisions Required

The manuscript is accepted pending minor or moderate revisions. Authors are required to revise the manuscript in accordance with the reviewers’ and editor’s comments and submit the revised version within the specified timeframe.

c. Resubmit for Review

The manuscript requires major revisions and must be substantially improved before it can be reconsidered. The revised manuscript will be treated as a new submission and may be sent back to the reviewers for further evaluation.

d. Decline Submission

The manuscript is rejected due to insufficient quality, lack of originality, methodological weaknesses, or misalignment with the journal’s scope.

The editorial decision and reviewers’ comments are communicated to the authors through the journal’s online submission system.

5. Revision Process

Authors are required to revise their manuscripts in response to reviewers’ comments and submit a detailed response to reviewers explaining how each point has been addressed.

For manuscripts requiring major revisions, the revised version may be returned to one or more of the original reviewers for further evaluation.

6. Final Decision and Production

After the revision process, the Editor makes the final decision regarding acceptance. Accepted manuscripts proceed to:

  1. Copyediting
  2. Layout and formatting
  3. Proofreading

Authors will be asked to review and approve the final version before publication.

7. Publication Schedule

Accepted articles are published according to the journal’s regular publication schedule:
